Welcome To Ba-Bapu Sevasangham

During the centenary year of Mahathma Gandhi and Kasturi Ba Gandhi,the Govt. of India formed several committees for celebrations.one such committee was headed by Smt Durgabai Desmukh. It was on her iniation Ba-Bapu bhavans were intended to be constructed in all districts of Andhra pradesh, with an objective to help women belonging to very poor sections of the society towards their empowerment and to support and encourage children's education.
In the year 1969,the present Ba-Bapu sevasangham was born. The then active Gandhi peace foundation took the initiative of getting the organization registered under the leadership of dr.Durgabai Desmukh.

The president of Gandhi peace foundation sri M.V Krishna Rao , former education minister,and it's members sri v.Ananthrao, advocate, sri B.S. Mallikarjunrao,advocate, prof. B.Sarweswar Rao,prof .D. venkatrao, sri G.Venkataramana, municipal chairman and the then District collector and magistrate, extended support and helped in framing the bye laws of the organization.

Dr.Durgabai Desmukh with her efforts secured a valuable site measuring 2,200 Sq.yds at Dwaraka Nagar Visakhapatnam by way of gift from Dwarakanagar cooperative Building society, for constructing to house Ba Bapu sevasangham. Several philanthropists of Visakhapatnam came forward with donations,along with dr Durgabai Desmukh to enable the construction. A special mention is to be made to S.N.Achanta I.A.S, the then Collector and District magistrate of Visakhapatnam .But for his interest and adequate help the present building might not have had such spacious place for all the activities followed. The building was inaugurated by Mrs Achanta.

Adhering to the Bye laws a committee was formed and the founder members built a strong foundation to Ba-Bapu seva Sangam,which enabled its 52 years of existence till date.

During the more than five decades of its journey ,Ba-Bapu sevasangham organized a number of events for the welfare of women. Training programmes to empower women were taken up, such as tailoring and embroidery classes, sewing mechanism classes, creche workers training, balawadi training etc. Free basic computer training for tenth class students. Fabric painting ,liquid embroidery for housewives, block printing etc.
The longest association and contributions of Kum. P.Jaganmohini garu (President) Ba-Bapu sevasangham, Smt. C.V.Ramani (Secratary), Smt.Y.Ramani (Joint Secretary), and many members together made this more than five decade long journey possible.
